As was pointed out to me by someone else, one of the benefits of releasing things as CBRs is that the archive can easily be opened and the files renamed by anyone who wants the pages displayed in reading order. And other people can read half the mag, skip to the end, set their reader to flip all pages 180 degrees, and then turn the pages backwards. It's an inconvenience either way, but it's up to the reader to decide which they prefer. |

Posts: 153 | Mar 14, 2023, 08:52 AM From memory these were released back digitally as well as physically. These should be a case of going to the last page and flipping the page? I understand your frustration but I'd rather preserve the magazine the way it was intended to be read rather than make special allowances based on your experience with magazines. |

I'd argue that the publishers were not considering digital formats when settling on a flipbook layout and never intended for the magazine to be read upside-down and backwards, but you may disagree. It's always important to consider the format and how a magazine will be read. A physical magazine can be flipped over and turned around with ease, hence the flipbook format. A digital magazine...nope, which is why you'll never see a digital mag released like that (except this one, of course.) Japanese digital magazines deal with this issue all the time. Most Japanese mags are printed western-style, left-to-right. However, the manga sections are printed right-to-left, since like books, all manga is printed that way. With a physical magazine, it's easy to just flip forward to the last page of the manga section (which is actually the first page) and read R-L, then resume reading the mag L-R when you're done. But doing that on a CBR/PDF reader is incredibly unintuitive and cumbersome, so the publishers re-order the pages for the digital editions so that people don't have to jump through hoops to see the pages displayed in the intended order. |

Posts: 153 | Mar 13, 2023, 11:17 AM Apologies you disagree with my decision Kitsunebi. I was just trying to preserve it the way it was intended to be read. I didn't want to tamper with the page order. |

Posts: 153 | Mar 13, 2023, 10:03 AM In case you're wondering why everything for Sonic is back to front I decided to preserve the original reading experience as the magazine presents. The intention by the publishers was to begin with Mario so I chose that series segment side first as the beginning. You'll need to go to the end and flip the image to read the Sonic segment. The only thing I was unable to scan was the A2 Mario and Sonic posters that came with this special. When I sell it on Ebay eventually maybe someone can buy the magazine specials to scan and add the posters to this magazine. |
