Damn .... magazine closures seem to be escalating of late with All About Space added to the 'gone burger' pile.

Not sure how staff morale is at Future but surely it cannot be good with people wondering who is next on the chopping block. Yikes!!!  :o

Even independent publishers are feeling it with Fusion giving the chop to Amtix! CPC recently although you can sort of understand that one when you are trying to make a living off a computer series that died in the early 1990's. To be honest I'm not sure how their Zzap!64 and Zzap! Amiga mags also haven't also gone the way of the Dodo. Retro Gamer has become the default magazine for retro gaming and covers that niche market well. Still, I'm putting money on Future killing that title before Edge magazine.

I think Retro Gamer will survive a good long time because as you say someone needs a retro gaming magazine. I doubt Fusion is doing that great compared to the retro computer mags. In all I think for some of these to survive they'll need to crowd fund future issues like those two Sega mags did.

I'm a subscriber to all the fusion retro physical mags, so I'd like to see them keep going. I love getting magazines in the post!

One thing evident which may have led to the failure of the Amtix revival is that the scene just did not seem as strong as the Speccy and C64 ones. There were far less games reviewed every issue compared to the Zzap and Crash revivals. I think the struggle was more finding content than anything else.

Amiga Addict and ZZap Amiga also seem to have no trouble filling pages and hopefully have a long future ahead of them too.
