I only found it since I'm scouring every Hyper issue for reviews and the missing pages where in the reviews section.

Where they in the news section or previews or some such I likely would've missed it entirely, even as I am going page by page through each one.

Amusingly, would the average American attempt to teach themselves Chinese cuisine they may end up with a very different set of meals than ones marketed in America, as Chinese restaurants in the USA have developed their own distinct menus suited to local tastes. Not a philsophical point, but a funny quirk to our conversation!

Yes, and it ties back into what I was saying about the benefit of people visiting other places, as they would quickly realize that all countries do that same thing.  A Chinese restaurant here in Japan serves food distinct from a Chinese restaurant in the USA, and neither one is the same as a Chinese restaurant in China.  The food in Japanese restaurants in America is quite different from those in Japan, and Japanese hamburgers are (for the most part) very mediocre (from my perspective, though as you say, they suit the local taste).  Though I will say that Mcdonald's here is probably the best in the world.  Not because the food is better - it's mostly the same (though there are some unique menu items), but because it is ALWAYS 100% fresh, fast, and served with politeness.  But then, who wants to eat at McDonald's when in Japan??
