I can't believe Computer Gaming World gave up their illustrious title with a 25 year history for something so generic as "Games for Windows," but I guess Microsoft was paying them enough to swallow their pride.  Until they ceased publication less than a year and a half later.  Was it the title, or just the changing magazine marketplace?  Maybe both?

I liked the plain looking format of the issues prior to the mid 100's. Somewhere after that they changed the layout of the mag and I stopped buying them as I didn't like it. It's a shame the collection I had went the same way as my early PC Gamer (USA) mags, thrown out, or we'd have a much better set of scans than those made by the "official" website. Man, those ones are not the best!!  :-\

I wasn't reading it by the time they changed their name, and honestly didn't even know they'd even done it until long after they'd ceased publication.  I just find "Games for Windows" to be really generic sounding, and whether the quality of CGW had declined or not, it's a shame to give up a name with so much history to it.  It would be like PC Gamer relaunching as "Computer Games."  Oh wait, there actually WAS a mag called "Computer Games."  Good lord, whatever happened to creativity?

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. My wife has Covid and I am not feeling well but I haven't tested positive (and I hope it stays that way!) so I haven't been inclined to do much of anything the last couple of days.

Jason submits three issues of APC including a 1990 Software Buyers Guide.

Hope you both are feeling better soon! My daughter bought some illness back from a play date so we are all suffering in my household too.

Cannon Fodder agrees with you.  ;)

I can relate to you. One of my nephews developed a bad case of COVID while going on an ocean cruise around Christmas time.

As you can see, some of these magazines in my recent haul were very water damaged. Still, a scan of a damaged magazine is better than nothing until we can find better replacements.

Sharing these remaining Hyper issues is super appreciated! :) Checked #251 briefly and to be honest, I don't even recognize any damages - looks flawless to me. Again, many thanks for making these available to us!

I'm also glad the remaining issues of Hyper are being placed here. All we need is Issue 232, the two Japan specials, and the sci-fi special, and we'll have a practically complete run of the magazine. Of course there still are the hints and cheats guides, and some of the other poster books, but they'll come eventually.

I know that Jason has been scanning in some of those issues. So I wonder how's that progressing? He did say that it would be a slow process of scanning the issues. But thankfully, I am patient.  ;D
