Hi there, just looking at this one and wondering what the white pages are for / were that replace the inside covers?

The white pages aren't replacing anything.  Those ARE the inside covers.  They're white.

Leaving them out would cause every single page of the entire guide to be off by one and no longer be paired up with the correct facing page.

A complete scan means all the pages, even the blank ones. :)

Makes perfect sense! Now I'm trying to figure out why they would purposely leave the inside covers white instead of having some type of art on them.

Almost every second non-fiction book released has blank pages on the inside cover. Why should a game guide be any different?

Yep.  Better get used to it.  I've still got a big stack of guides to scan, and at least 1/3 of them have blank inside covers.

I always thought those pages were left blank so the owner could write their name and address or phone number, in case it got lost and someone wanted to return it. It might also be useful for libraries to use for catalogue information! Of course, in the subject of videogame guides, you might use it to jot down some notes or passwords for easy access, or page numbers for topics you'd be checking repeatedly. A blank page is pretty useful for all sorts of reasons!

Lord of the Rings: The Third Age (Prima Official Game Guide)

PSM (USA) Issue 2

While I'm here...we're calling this PSM (USA) here, but I'm not actually aware of any other English language PSMs.  Did you guys have a PSM in the UK?  Or did you just skip straight to PSM2?
